🍂 Is Your Home (and Family) Ready for Fall?

Can you believe summer is almost behind us? I feel like I just blinked, and suddenly the back-to-school emails are rolling in, the pool towels are starting to collect dust, and my girls are already talking about Halloween costumes.
As a mom and a Realtor®, August is one of those months where I’m juggling it all — school prep, client showings, and of course, a little bit of fall nesting. If you’re also feeling the pull to get life a little more organized before the season shifts, you’re not alone.
Here are a few simple ways I’m helping my family (and my clients!) get ready for fall — without the overwhelm:
🏡 1. Give Your Porch a Mini Makeover
It doesn’t take much to transition from summer to fall—just a few planters with mums or ornamental cabbage, a cute seasonal doormat, and maybe a neutral fall wreath. These little touches not only create a warm welcome for guests but also add curb appeal.
🎒 2. Declutter Drop Zones
Before the backpacks, lunchboxes, and random art projects start flooding in, take a few minutes to clean out your entryway or mudroom. Add a bin for shoes, hooks for bags, and maybe a little drawer or basket for permission slips and loose papers. Trust me — future you will thank you.
🧰 3. Knock Out Quick Maintenance Tasks
Now’s the perfect time to check a few things off the home care list:
Change your HVAC filter
Clean out the gutters
Check windows and doors for drafts
Restock cozy throws, candles, and maybe even firewood
These small tasks can help prevent big problems later — and make your space feel ready for cooler days.
🍎 4. Plan Some Fall Fun
Whether it’s apple picking, hayrides, or backyard s’mores, don’t forget to pencil in some intentional family fun. Life gets busy fast, and these moments are the ones we’ll all remember.
I’m working on a roundup of family-friendly fall events happening around Cherokee County — keep an eye on my socials for that!
